How to make crispy Banana chips

Do you want to make your own Banana chips? Banana chips is delicious especially if it is freshly cooked and aside from that, this is a good business to start with because you can start with a very small capital.

In making this banana chips, you want to make something thin, crunchy or crispy if you intend this to make it a business on the side. This has a tendency to be chewy or rubbery after few hours of deep frying and also it tends banana to stick with one other because of melted sugar.

There is a way to prevent these to happen. I have already made a video for that but it is not yet published, the video will show you the process in making it. I'll add Tagalog and English CC.

Since you’re here already, just continue reading below.

Before making this you will need the following materials:
  • Tray or plate where you will put banana chips to cool down
  • strainer
  • pot
  • grater - to make your perfect thin banana chips
  • knife or peeler - to remove banana skin
  • bowl - this is where you place your sliced banana
  • tong (optional)
  • tissue (optional)

  • 2 cups Unripe Banana plantain (green) sliced thinly
  • 4 tbsp Brown sugar or washed sugar
  • 1 liter cooking oil

  • Peel banana skin and slice it thinly using your grater
  • Prepare the pot and pour cooking oil over medium heat
  • Heat oil in boiling point
  • While heating the cooking oil, sprinkle sugar in a grated banana.
  • Mix well until banana is sugar coated
  • If oil is hot enough, lower the heat.
  • Start to drop banana chips one at a time (be careful). Do not cook banana all at the same time.
  • Stir to prevent from sticking with each other
  • Cook until color has changed. It depends on you if you like it to be slightly brown or light brown.

I hope you try this at home at let me know if you have already tried this.

Happy cooking :)
