Ginataang Lapu-lapu with Water Spinach
Ginataang Lapu lapu is cooked with coconut milk which is very simple to cook and don’t need too much ingredients. Ginataan is most popular in the province of Bicol, Visayan & Mindanao region in the Philippines. They usually cook dishes with coconut cream/milk and chili peppers.

Try this creamy & delicious dish. Here is the video:

  • 2 medium Lapu-lapu fish (whole)
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 1/2 cup coconut milk/ or coconut milk powder (knorr)
  • 1 tbsp garlic (minced)
  • 1 medium onion (sliced thinly)
  • 1 ginger (cut into strips)
  • 2 finger chili
  • 2 chili peppers/bird’s eye chili (optional)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 cups spinach

Here is how to cook Ginataang Lapu-lapu with coconut cream:
  1. Heat the cooking oil in a pot.
  2. Saute the garlic and ginger until brown
  3. Then add water spinach
  4. Add Coconut cream and simmer
  5. Add onion & finger chili
  6. Add the Lapu lapu fish then cook
  7. Season it with fish sauce & ground pepper
