Kilawing Puso ng Saging

Hello there, I hope everyone is okay.

Today, I cook Kilawing Puso ng saging. I have been craving for something like this long time ago and now I’m glad that I remember it, so I cook and eat this weekend. Puso ng Saging means Banana Heart (blossom), not every one especially those who are raised in Metro Manila knew this or even if they know this, they are not yet familiar on how it is cooked.

And same with the blossoms, you also need to remove them because it’s tough even if we cook it. It still bitter and tough. But, to avoid wasting those removed parts I sometimes use it to make a banana heart burger patty.

I’ll make one someday to show you how to make it.

Here are the ingredients that we need:
  • 1 banana heart
  • 1 tbsp ginger
  • 1 tbsp onion
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 salad oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground pepper
  • 2 cups cold water green/red chili (optional)

What to do with your ingredients:
  • Banana Heart - you need to remove the red part and then cook it in a boiling water.
  • Ginger - mince it using the
  • onion - chop it cold
  • water - you will be using the cold water for the boiled banana heart, soak banana to cold water.

Here is how to prepare it:
  1. Slice boiled banana heart into pieces
  2. In a bowl, combine sliced banana heart, ginger, vinegar, salad oil, salt, onion, salt and chili
  3. Then mix well Place it in a sealed container and leave it for 1 hour
  4. After 1 hour, it’s ready to eat.
